In 1951, Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi began designing Akari Light Sculptures, a collection of handcrafted pieces in washi paper that would eventually include more than 100 lamps—table lamps, floor lamps and ceiling lamps.
Akari 1A desk lamp, as part of Akari Light Sculptures, reinterprets traditional Asian paper lanterns in a modern way with a new aesthetic, presenting a poetic collision of classical and modern. Unusually multifaceted, the Akari 1A table lamp is handcrafted from mulberry paper, metal and iron.
The shade is not white, it looks more beige. Inspired by paper lanterns, the lampshade is made of mulberry paper, which makes the light soft, soft and evenly distributed. The Noguchi Akari 1A lamp is beautiful when lit, the paper shade creates a softer light for a more relaxing ambiance, and can be used as a table or floor lamp.
